Haemolytic jaundice in a neonate after intra-amniotic injection of methylene blue.

چکیده
Premature rupture of the fetal membranes is associated with neonatal morbidity and mortality, and correct diagnosis is important. Generally diagnosis is simple, but in difficult cases obstetricians have used several techniques to differentiate between leaking liquor and urinary incontinence, including injecting dye into the amniotic cavity. The original report of this technique used Evans's blue as the marker,' but more recently methylene blue has been used. Although there are apparently no harmful effects of this dye on the mother, toxic effects on the baby, particularly haemolysis and hyperbilirubinaemia, have been noted.2-4

Methylene Blue Prevents Post-Surgical Adhesion Formation in the Rabbit
Peritoneal adhesions are challenging in abdominal surgery. In spite of different kinds of treatments still no definitive and effective treatment is suggested. To determine the prevention effects of intraperitoneal (ip) methylene blue in post surgical adhesion formation 44 rabbits were randomly divided in two groups of equal number. Group I received an intra peritoneal injection of a 1% suspensi...
متن کاملInappropriate cervical injection of radiotracer for sentinel node mapping in a uterine cervix cancer patient: importance of lymphoscintigraphy and blue dye injection
Herein, we report a case of sentinel lymph node mapping in a uterine cervix cancer patient, referring to the nuclear medicine department of our institute. Lymphoscintigraphy images showed inappropriate intra‐cervical injection of radiotracer. Blue dye technique was applied for sentinel lymph node mapping, using intra‐cervical injection of methylene blue. Two blue/cold sentinel lymph nodes, with...

A 59 year old man is presented with adenocarcinoma of the stomach. In order to evaluate for the presence of the non-lifting sign, methylene blue was injected 2 mm from the perimeter of the tumor. Since the tumor lifted, snare removal of the tumor was done, safely. Partial gastrectomy was performed 2 weeks after endoscopic removal of the tumor which revealed no residual tumor or lymph node ...
متن کاملPerforated appendicitis after intravenous immunoglobulin therapy in a term neonate with haemolytic jaundice.
Neonatal appendicitis is a rare clinical condition that may cause high morbidity and mortality if diagnosis is delayed. There is usually an underlying disease; it can also be a localized form of necrotizing enterocolitis. Here, we present a term neonate who was treated with intravenous immunoglobulin because of severe isoimmune hemolytic jaundice. The patient developed abdominal symptoms within...
